CollegeUp.org is launched 2005-08-09
A one-stop-shop website that features everything from classifieds to teacher ratings has just become available to UC students.
Berkeley, CA 08-06-05 Students at UC Berkeley have been creating a webpage to make the lives of their fellow stressed-out scholars a little bit simpler. CollegeUp not only tends to academic needs but is a laid back site where they can chat, complain, or just connect.
The concept of CollegeUp was stumbled upon in a group exercise to determine new projects to pursue for HFG Consulting. It is now led by Keshav Malani, an associate with the firm’s Berkeley branch. The site is being developed by a Jonathan Hsu, a programmer currently at Cal Poly. The original purpose of the site was to expedite the use of websites such as Craigslist.com, Rent.com and etc. by consolidating the contents relevant to college students into one.
Now it has become a one stop site for everything relevant to the campus. The website is not just an informational database; rather it is a provider of a common social ground not only for specific campuses but across campuses. Sections such as Ranting and University “Hot or Not” are just few of the many available and upcoming features in the website. CollegeUp prides itself on its adaptability to changes in the preferences of its users because of its personal responses to any feedback.
HFG Consulting is a student led organization that focuses on product and services for the college population in many different universities. The firm also brought about the creation of the Ninja Card at several campuses. It has done consulting work with many shops in the Berkeley vicinity with great results. Currently the firm is also working on a project with Dell Computers.
